Privacy policy

Last updated 7 September 2026. This policy is the public notice for the BerkClean Android app (com.berkeleyuae.berkclean) and the BerkClean website. It is written to meet Google Play’s privacy policy requirements.

Who we are

BerkClean is a workplace product of Berkeley Services in the United Arab Emirates. It is used by Berkeley staff and authorised client users to plan, complete and check cleaning work (PPM jobs, assessments, issues and training).

Controller: Berkeley Services, operating BerkClean at https://berkclean.berkeleyuae.com.

Privacy requests: privacy@berkeleyuae.com.

Who this app is for

BerkClean is a business / workforce tool. Accounts are issued by Berkeley (or a client administrator). It is not offered to the general public, not directed at children, and not intended for anyone under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable age). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Data we collect

We only collect what the product needs to run the cleaning contract.

MessagesIn-app chat with colleagues on your projectOperations coordination
Device / sessionSign-in token stored on the phone, app version, approximate network statusKeep you signed in; sync offline work

Passwords are stored hashed on our servers. The Android app keeps your session token in the device’s secure storage. Offline jobs may sit in a local database on the phone until they sync.

Location (Play: Location)

The Android app requests precise location (fine and coarse). While a cleaner is signed in, the app sends location updates to BerkClean so supervisors can see live GPS on the website. That sharing is part of the job product; it is not an advertising feature.

You can refuse the system permission. If you refuse, live GPS will not work; you can still sign in and complete jobs that do not need a location fix. Location is not sold and is not used for ads or credit scoring.

Camera and photos (Play: Photos and videos)

Camera access is used to scan room QR / barcodes and to take photos of cleaned rooms or faults. You may also choose a photo from the gallery. Images are uploaded to BerkClean and shown to people who already have access to that site (typically supervisors, inspectors and administrators). We do not use photos to build advertising profiles.

How we use data

  • Provide the BerkClean website and Android app
  • Assign, complete and evidence cleaning PPM and assessments
  • Show live cleaner location to authorised supervisors
  • Handle field / maintenance issues
  • Deliver in-app chat, notifications and training
  • Secure accounts, prevent abuse, and keep operational records for the client contract

We do not sell personal data. We do not use BerkClean data for third-party advertising.

Who can see it

Data is visible inside BerkClean according to role and site / project access (cleaners, inspectors, supervisors, administrators, and in some cases client users). Hosting and email delivery run on infrastructure we operate or contract (including cloud hosting and transactional email). Barcode scanning on Android may use Google Play services / ML Kit on the device.

We may disclose information if required by UAE or other applicable law, or to protect staff, sites or the company.

How long we keep it

Account and operational records (jobs, photos, scores, GPS history, chat) are kept for as long as the account or the cleaning contract needs them, and then for a limited archive period if the contract or law requires it. Session tokens last until you sign out or the session expires. Offline copies on the phone are removed when you sign out or when the app data is cleared.

Security

Access is behind a work login. The website and API use HTTPS. Role-based access limits who can open a site. No method of storage is perfectly secure; report suspected incidents to privacy@berkeleyuae.com.

Your choices

  • Sign out of the app to stop live location updates from that device
  • Deny or revoke camera or location permission in Android settings
  • Ask your supervisor or administrator to correct your name, email or site access
  • Ask for a copy, correction or deletion of your personal data by emailing privacy@berkeleyuae.com (we may need to keep some records for the contract or law)
